Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are made up of a lever on one side and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. These are designed to be used with key wind locks although they can also be used to multipoint split spindle door locks (though you will need a separate dual spindle lock case).
Our range of upvc handles lever pads are available in a wide range of finishes. These will be displayed in the drop-down list after you have identified the right handle for your door. Not all styles of handles are available in every finish though and you should always look over the sizes and technical drawings for the particular product you're looking for to ensure that you can get the correct size and fit.
It is essential to ensure that when you choose a new set of Upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the centre of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because they are required to be aligned so that the doors remain locked, no matter if you're looking from the outside or inside. Our handles are designed to fit most conventional cylinders, but it is a good idea to double-check prior to purchasing.
You will need to remove your handles that you have already installed and then dismantle the lock case if you're upgrading to dual spindle handle levers because this will require a split inline cylinder. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical illustration in the images of each product.
It is a good idea to loosen the screws that are holding your existing door handle and then check the mechanism. You may have to loosen the screws further if they are not tight. Then you can remove the old handle and spindle and put in your new door handle made of upvc. It is important to ensure that the handle is in the right position prior to fixing it. You can do this by placing your finger between the door frame and the handle to make sure that it is level.
Lever/Lever
The lever door handles are used to operate a multi-point lock that uses the Euro cylinder. They are located on many double upvc doors as well as some wooden and aluminium doors. They feature a lever inside and an outside paddle and are usually supplied in two varieties. Sprung - These have a spring cassette installed within the backplate, which helps bring the handle lever to a horizontal position. Non-sprung - these do not have a spring mechanism, and will require manual pulled to bring the handle lever back to its horizontal position.
To fix a sagging door handle lever you'll need to locate the hole or pin that is the detent access point. It's typically a small hole or protruding ring or rectangular located on the handle base plate. Once you have located it, loosen the set screw with a screwdriver and remove it to allow the lever, allowing it to return to its horizontal position.
After the handle is placed horizontally, you can reinstall the screws. Tighten them to ensure that the handle remains firmly fixed to the base plate. It is also recommended to apply a threadlocking adhesive solution to the screw threads to increase the grip and stop them from loosening over time.
There are a myriad of reasons that door handles for levers slide. The most common reason is that the fixings are too tight which causes the lever bearing to bind up against the door. It could also be that the levers aren't being operated at a straight angle and this is compressing the latch mechanism preventing it from fully springing back into operation.
A common cause of a sprung lever not working properly is that the spring is not being in the right position on the backplate. To determine whether the handle is back to horizontal, simply move it.
If your door handles are loose, it is important to identify the issue quickly, since this can lead to excessive wear on the screws, and even to the handle falling off the base plate. It is recommended to tighten all loose screws regularly to help to prevent them from becoming loose.
Lever/Snib
The handles for doors made of upvc are also referred to as handle sets with a 'Snib' and have a snib lever towards the top of the lever that you can press down to lock your door if you don't use an dummy lock. They are usually fitted with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle's centre and the lever or the lock centre) door lock. We also carry a selection of other door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.
Changing your door handle is a cost-effective way to update your home, whether replacing handles that are in use or fitting new ones to doors you've constructed in your home. There are a variety of door handles made from upvc available with traditional levers on backplates, straight or curved short latches, and knob handles with dummy handles for multi-point locks, which are perfect for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are often rectangular, but there are also oval or circular-shaped models that are referred to as rose door handles. These handles are identified by a lever or a knob that is mounted on the backplate. The backplate can be removed for concealed fixing.
There is a variety of chrome and colored finishes available for these handles that match your door and other hardware, including bolts, knobs and hinges. Some handles are supplied with grub screws that aid in the secure attachment of the lever or knob to the spindle. Some handles are equipped with bathroom spindles which can be used for bathroom locks. They also have an release mechanism that turns the thumb and can be used on bathroom doors.
Mortise
If your front door's uPVC handle is stuck in the open position, the problem will most likely be with the tubular latch. There could be a variety of reasons for this, the most common being the simple lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be fixed quite easily by simply opening the door and spraying lubricant onto the lock and handle. It could also be that the latch plate is detached from the backplate. This can be a bit more complicated and requires a professional to fix it.
A multipoint door handle is the ideal solution to solve the issue of a door handle that is stuck. The handles are inserted into the door's faceplate and are operated with the thumb turn knob or key that triggers a cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a range of different sizes to fit various types of uPVC doors. They also come in a variety of attractive finishes to complement the existing hardware. The handles can be purchased online or through an authorized locksmith in your area. They are easy to install with clear instructions.
If you want to replace the handle set, you will be required to know the PZ size of the cylinder. This is the distance in millimetres that lies between the outer edge of the door frame and the center of the hole in the handle. You'll also need the type of lock on your door, regardless of whether it's a mortise or hook lock. Once you have these measurements, the simplest way to find the correct handles is to filter by brand option on the website. This will help narrow down your options and then you can choose the right size.
A typical handle set includes the handle unit and a pair of different length screws drilling guides, as well as installation instructions. Smart versions, like the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ come with a mortice lock with keypad. These are more sophisticated units and are best suited for professionals who install them or skilled DIYers. Some handle sets have an array of additional accessories, such as weather strips that can be used to enhance the appearance of the door.
